Shape-shifters, Ghosts & Guardians Start your morning with a scenic drive through lush mountain valleys on the way to the first stop, beautiful Ka Lae o Kealohi peninsula overlooking the largest bay in the Hawaiian Islands and rich in legends, folktales and archaeological sites. After a short stroll, sit down and relax with a brew of fresh Kona coffee and island fruits and take in the spectacular views while listening to the vivid tapestry of legends of sorceresses, fire goddesses, ghosts, tidal waves, the creation of man and much more. Then view the nearby ancient 88-acre fishpond guarded over by a shape-shifting lizard goddess and a testament to the complex and unique Hawaiian aquaculture system.
Sacred Stones & The Secret of Fire After a brief drive, arrive at the next stop, a hidden promontory studded with large, unusual stones and overlooking the largest wetland preserve in the islands. This site was once the caldera of the ancient Ko'olau Volcano and the haunt of another lizard sorceress. Explore the stones, views and restoration garden of endangered Hawaiian plants while listening to the legends and lore of this sacred site. Last but not least, meet the legendary keeper of the secret of fire.
Ancient Temple & Taro Brother On the final stop visit the most ancient, preserved temple on O'ahu and explore the cultural restoration of fresh springs, taro patches and rock terracing. Learn the legend of mankind's taro brother, the flight of the taro lovers, the menehune night builders and more. Then relax under shade trees, enjoy some island snacks and take in the views before heading back home through the mountains.
