Overview
Nuevo Mundo Expeditions creates the most outstanding programs to Ecuador's lesser-known natural and cultural wonders. For decades they've literally walked, rafted, camped, canoed and trekked Ecuador. That's the way they design and operate tours others think are just not possible. The company’s 30 years of experience in the tourism industry means that travelers get affordable, high-quality, fun trips for kids of all ages! NME offers its clients “handcrafted adventures in Ecuador beyond its Galapagos Islands (sm).” Gay and lesbian travelers are welcome!
Mission statement: “Show travelers the world over the natural and cultural wonders of Ecuador - revealing the secret without losing the enchantment - utilizing the resource while safeguarding its perpetuity - and harvesting the know-how to create the most unforgettable vacations.”
Nuevo Mundo Expeditions’ Principles
Conservation: “You love what you know and you protect what you love.”
Ecotourism: “It’s uniting conservation and travel throughout the ecosphere.”
Diversity: “Creates resilience and builds unity through the variety of: cultures, ideas, (eco)systems, climates, etc.”
Sustainable marketing: “Keeps newly discovered sites from going public until proper management guarantees that tourism will not cause negative impacts; thus, it implements a ‘slow’ approach to market development.”
The Ecuadorian Travel Experience Ecuador is adventure, fun, excitement, diversity and uniqueness. This small country houses enormous biological and cultural diversity, which UNESCO has recognized by declaring three places – two cities and one national park – World Heritage Sites. For instance, Ecuador has the highest orchid diversity in the world, the highest active volcano, and the tallest snowcap straddling the equator. Ecuador is four worlds in one country: coast, mountains, tropical rainforest and islands. That also means you can immerse yourself in different ecosystems, landscapes and climates within short distances to suit your interests and preferences. Explore the impressive Andes, indigenous markets, rainforest communities, incredible wildlife, balmy beaches, archeological sites, colonial cities and haciendas, and much more!
Nuevo Mundo Expeditions keeps Ecuador's “special ingredients” fresh until the timing is right to produce even more enticing “travel recipes” that will make your mouth water.
Personalized Itineraries That’s their specialty! Nuevo Mundo Expeditions “handcrafts” each trip request so that no two tours are ever alike! They provide transportation in accordance with the program: 4-wheel-drive vehicles, motor dugouts, horseback, etc. They have selected the finest city hotels and the most comfortable and charming lodges, villas, and haciendas for the in-the-field programs. On-the-road snacks and appetizers, first-aid medical supplies and general logistics are provided.
The best of Ecuadorian food will be served at your table, and don’t worry about dietary requirements as NME can arrange special meals in advance so no one feels left out. After all, great meals are part of a great trip! Moreover, their experienced, multilingual guides and indigenous escorts accompany you on all excursions, providing daily briefings on major points of interest and ample instruction on how to prepare for the following day.
Small Groups and Special Interest Travel In keeping with their sustainability principles, Nuevo Mundo Expeditions handles small groups so as to minimize cultural and enviromental impacts in the destinations, and to provide a more intimate and personal travel experience to their clients. NME promotes slow tourism; thus, longer stays at each location are recommended so that guests get the most out of their trip and local hosts benefit more from tourism.
Nuevo Mundo Expeditions also organizes special interest expeditions and tours for student groups, photographers, ornithologists, scientists, news reporters and magazines, or for other special requests. One of their recent projects was arranging the logistics for the Ecuador section in Peter Menzel and Faith D’Aluisio’s “Hungry Planet – What the World Eats”, in 2006 (awarded “Book of the Year” the following year).
