Pacific Asia Leisure, Inc. is committed to promote the Philippines - its history and unique culture, its wealth of natural resources - and to guide you explore the national treasures of the north where you will find the UNESCO World Heritage site of Vigan. The well preserved colonial structures create a unique 17th century European atmosphere - making the only of one of its kind. Nestled within the rugged Cordillera ranges in Central Philippine, is another spectacular view - the Banaue Rice Terraces - tagged as “Eighth Wonder of the World”, which is carved out of the hillside by Ifugao tribal people some 2000 to 3000 years ago. It was declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO in 1995. This is a place of nature adventures and cultural immersion that is worth the trip.
At the northern tip of the Philippines lies an island that is neither isolated nor remote, Batanes - where the Ivatans stay true their rich culture, allowing them to maintain their heritage in the thick of modernity and commercialism. The remarkable way of life is evident in every aspect of the island - from the rustic, stone homes to the boats that flank their shores, to the warm and hospitable way they welcome visitors.
Located in Palawan, the Philippines’ last frontier, the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park was inscribed as a World Heritage site by UNESCO in 1999. The park features a spectacular limestone landscape with an underground river that flows directly into the sea and its lower portion subject to tidal influences. The area represents a significant habitat for biodiversity conservation and contains full- mountain to sea ecosystem representative of all forest types in Asia.
A 45-minute flight from Manila, Iloilo ranks as one of the country’s centers of culture, industry and trade. Iloilo is a place to see period churches and centuries old houses. A grand example is the Miag-ao Fortress Church which was built in 1787 and is included in the UNESCO World Heritage list as one of the “Baroque Churches in the Philippines”. The church yellow stone structure is reminiscent of the great Aztec temples with touches of Philippine culture.
