Overview

Slikamilina Painting Tours is owned by Nick Milina in Croatia and guided by his daughter Lynda Milina, who lives in Ottawa, Canada. After 40 years in Canada, and 40 Canadian winters, Nick moved back to a more temperate Croatia for his retirement. Lynda, a Croatian/South African/Canadian, grew up in Kingston, Ontario, Canada and spent every second summer in Lumbarda, Croatia visiting with her family. As an adult, she has continued to visit regularly particularly since Nick returned to his homeland.

Nick had a successful self-employed career in carpentry while in Canada and continues to renovate old homes in Lumbarda, amongst other agricultural interests, such as making his own wine and olive oil. Lynda, after graduating from University (with one year in Granada, Spain) and following a short stint in real estate, decided she enjoyed looking at the design of the interiors more then selling the house itself. She went on to study Interior Design, which lead her into a ten-year career in and outside the industry.

Having developed a love for travel, sparked by yearly trips all over the world during her childhood, Lynda continues to explore, selecting new and exciting locations for her annual trips. August 2007 included a return trip to her mother’s homeland of South Africa for a three-week safari. Art being her other outlet, Lynda has participated in volunteer projects for the Arts, Craft shows, and most recently photography (all photography on this site was taken by Lynda). Nick, who prefers to stay close to home and enjoys a tranquil life on the island, hosts many friends who visit him on a regular basis.

Having not quite figured out why she never incorporated work with travel, Lynda decided to embark on just that! And with Nick’s hometown offering an idyllic place to travel to, Nick and Lynda hope you will join them in getting to know Island Korcula, and preserving it in paintings to showcase in your own home.

Tours on the Island of Korcula
The Island of Korcula is rich in vineyards and olive trees, and the southern coast is dotted with quiet coves and small beaches. This part of Croatia is unique in its beauty and is perfect for both the beginner and the accomplished to enjoy the pleasures of sketching, painting, and photography.

Your painting tour includes scenic areas such as Badija, Smokvica, Racisce, Korcula and Lumbarda, as picked by your instructor. Your day will begin at 8am with breakfast. Your day will then be set in motion by your instructor... each instructor will vary slightly, but mornings and afternoons will be for painting, with a box lunch on location, in between.

At the end of the day, return to your accommodations. You will have some time to yourself before the evening meal. After dinner, you are encouraged to spend time exploring the area of enjoying wine with your fellow artists, relaxing before your next day of painting.

    Reservation Policy

    A reservation deposit of $250 per person is required at the time of booking. Final payment is due 60 days prior to the date of departure. If you sign up for a tour within 60 days of the tour departure, full payment will be required before you can be confirmed on the tour, and the deposit portion will be non-refundable.

    Cancellation Policy

    Cancellations received in writing 61 or more days from the date of departure will result in a loss of your deposit but a full refund of your tour price. Cancellations received 60 or fewer days before departure will result in a loss of all monies paid, unless you qualify under the Tour Cancellation/Interruption Coverage. There are no refunds for services not utilized while on a Painting Tour.
